WhatsApp working on feature may soon allow users to report suspicious status updates

Vivid News 24: According to reports, WhatsApp is developing a new feature that would enable users to utilize the Desktop app on their laptop or PC to report any suspicious status update. The desktop client of the instant messaging service owned by Meta is now testing this new functionality.

To stop the propagation of any dangerous content, the platform currently allows users to report spam, fraudulent messages, and suspicious messages to the company directly. However, WhatsApp will become more user-focused and safe with the addition of this new functionality.

WABetaInfo reported on it. It was indicated that reports can be sent in if the Terms of Service are discovered to have been broken, and it would be investigated. Additionally, according to the source, users will be able to flag a status directly from a new menu in the status area that will include a reporting option.

The reported status will be forwarded to WhatsApp for review after being reported. Like communications, media, voice notes, location sharing, and status updates, this will be end-to-end encrypted. This indicates that others won’t be able to access it or learn about it.

It is still in the early stages of development and is currently only available for desktop beta testing. Once it has been fully updated, it may be distributed at a later date. It is anticipated to launch soon for iOS and Android. However, there is no evidence to support this.

Additionally, it was discovered that WhatsApp for Desktop is developing new capabilities that will help users increase their privacy and security levels. WhatsApp is currently only working on updates for Android and iOS that will provide password-protected access to the app. It is anticipated to become accessible for desktops soon.

Nobody can listen to or view the content of a user’s private calls or messages, not even WhatsApp and Meta, thus the firm must provide a report option to protect the platform and its users. According to the source, WhatsApp Desktop beta will get a future upgrade that will include the option to report status updates.
