VLC media player is back, ban lifted from popular video software

Vivid News 24: A few months back, VLC media player was outlawed in India. After this, the company’s website in India disabled the well-known media player. This software could not be downloaded. However, the ban on this program in India has been overturned by the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

As a result, VLC Player is being downloaded from the company’s website again in India. Internet Freedom Foundation of India first reported this news. The company claims to have provided legal assistance to VLC in this regard.

Anyone can download VLC Media Player again from VideoLAN website. According to the official website, 7.3 crore customers have already downloaded this software from the company’s website. However, it is not known why VLC Media Player was banned in India. Due to the lifting of the ban, there is no more hindrance in downloading this app from the company’s website and installing it on the computer or laptop.

In October this year, VLC makers had sent a legal letter to the Center seeking to know why their service was banned in India. At the same time, the developers wanted the opportunity to defend themselves through a virtual hearing.

The company said in its petition to the Indian government that if the government fails to provide proper justification for the ban, VideoLAN is entitled and bound to initiate legal proceedings against the Center for failing to protect rights under the Constitution of India and violating international law and the government’s own rules. Until now, opening the VideoLAN website showed a 404 error. According to the company, about 2.5 crore users download this popular media player every year from India alone. However, this website was banned by the Center without any notice this year. Since then VLC website was not opening from India.
