Veteran singer Vani Jairam passed away at the age of 77

Vivid News 24: At the age of 77, veteran vocalist Vani Jairam was discovered dead in her Chennai home. Her death was confirmed by the Thousand Lights Police, according to the news agency ANI. This year’s Padma Bhushan award was given to her. The cause of her death has not yet been disclosed by the police.

D Imman posted a photo of himself with the late singer on Twitter. The two were pictured standing side by side inside a room. D Imman wrote in the caption, “I find it difficult to absorb the tragic news that legendary singer Vani Jairam Amma has passed away. Amma, we miss you. Last August, we met and she recorded a scene for my upcoming movie Malai. And I’m horrified to learn that she has passed away today. I’m praying. Her soul may now rest in peace. -D.Imman.”

Malarkodi, Vani’s housekeeper, was quoted by ANI as saying, “I rang the doorbell at Vani Jairam’s house five times. She did not, however, let anyone in. Even my spouse tried to phone her, but she didn’t answer. She is the only one who resides here.” Legendary Tamil Nadu singer Vani Jairam is known for penning over 20,000 songs in 18 different languages.

She began her career in 1971, and it lasted for five decades. Kannada, Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, Marathi, Gujarati, Assamese, and Bengali are just a few of the languages in which Vani has performed. She additionally took home three National Film Awards for Best Female Playback Singer. Her first Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer went to the song Mere To Giridhar Gopal from the movie Meera (1979).

She performed several Hindi songs, including Teri Jheel Si Gehri from the movie Dhuan Ki Lakeer, a duet with Nitin Mukesh, More Saajan Souten Ghar from the movie Pakeezah (1972), Dulhan Badi Jadugarni, a duet with Asha Bhosle in Aaina (1977), Pyar Kabhi Kam Na Karna Sanam, a duet with Kishore Kumar in the movie E

In addition, Vani performed several songs by OP Nayyar from the 1978 movie Khoon Ka Badla Khoon, including duets with Mohammed Rafi, Uttara Kelkar, and Pushpa Pagdhare. In Jurm Aur Sazaa, she performed Laxmikant Pyarelal’s duet song Maine Tumhe Paa Liya with Mohammed Rafi, Jaidev’s solo song Pee Kahan from Solva Sawan (1979), and a duet with Manna Dey from Parinay (1974).
