PM Modi’s taunt on Gandhi family

Vivid News 24: Prime Minister Narendra Modi poked fun at the Gandhis during his speech to the Rajya Sabha on Thursday by questioning why they didn’t adopt Nehru as their last name despite being descended from Jawahar Lal Nehru, India’s first prime minister. “I had seen in the news that at least 600 programmes were given Gandhi-Nehru names.

Why his (Jawahar Lal Nehru’s) descendants are afraid to use his last name is beyond me. What’s the shame if he was such a well-known figure? In response to the Motion of Thanks to the President’s address to the Joint Session of Parliament prior to the Union Budget, PM Modi posed the question.

Rahul Gandhi, a Congressman and former party leader, is descended from Jawahar Lal Nehru. In the midst of constant sloganeering and against the backdrop of the free fall in Adani Group’s stock price caused by an American short-seller company, according to Hindenburg Research, the prime minister continued his speech.

PM Modi cited a Hindi couplet amidst the constant opposition cries and commotion from opposition MPs. “Keechad unke pass tha, mere pass gulal. Jo jis ke pass tha, usne diya uchal,”In response to the criticisms opposition parties levelled at him and his administration, PM Modi cited a poem by Manik Verma.

It basically translates to “whoever had whatever they tossed in the air, they had dirt, and I had ‘gulal’.” In his speech, the prime minister also discussed what secularism meant to him and his administration.

“Making sure that all eligible recipients of the benefits of various government programmes receive them is the essence of true secularism. Using technology, we have changed the way we do business. Our priorities are accelerating scale and improving speed “said he.
