Navy sailor’s bloody body recovered in Mumbai, mystery over murder or suicide?

Vivid News 24: Mysterious death of an officer of Indian Navy warship “INS Chennai”. A bloody body was recovered from the warship. The name of the deceased was Happy Singh Tomar. Colleagues allegedly told the police that the soldier used his pistol to shoot himself. He shot himself in the chest with his service gun. However, the reason for his suicide is still a mystery to the detectives.

Investigators are looking into whether the deceased was suffering from mental retardation. At present, the warship is in the naval port of Mumbai. The naval officer died mysteriously inside the ship on Saturday. The police of Maharashtra’s Colaba police station have registered a case of unnatural death in this incident. Also, the Navy has also launched a separate investigation into the incident.

According to the preliminary investigation, Happy Singh was in charge of the mechanical maintenance of the warship INS Chennai. He lived with his wife in a residence in Navy Nagar, Mumbai. After the body was recovered on Saturday, an autopsy was conducted at JJ Hospital in Mumbai. Later it was handed over to the family by the hospital authorities.

The investigating officer was also there. According to sources, the police searched the warship after the body was recovered. The ship’s cabin where Happy lived is well explored. Later, police said, no suicide note was recovered from the spot. Only the mobile phone of the deceased was found. It has been sent for testing. The police said that forensic examination of the mobile phone will also be done.

The police is not ruling out the theory of accident in the mysterious death of the naval officer. According to the investigators, there is a possibility that the bullet accidentally hit the chest. The firearm that killed the naval officer has already been seized by the police.

They also said that the ballistics of the firearm will be tested. Besides, the process of recording the statements of all those working on the warship at the time of the incident has also been started. Along with the Baran Police, the Navy will also record.

In January this year, the INS Ranvir exploded in the middle of the sea near Mumbai. Three naval personnel lost their lives in that incident. 11 others were injured. However, the Ministry of Defence said that there was no damage to the warship. Several months after that incident, a naval officer died in the ship again. About which a fold of worry has fallen on the forehead of the naval officers.
