Former President of Pakistan Pervez Musharraf passed away

Vivid News 24: Pervez Musharraf, a former president and retired general, died on Sunday in a Dubai hospital, per sources quoted by Geo News. He was 79. The story further stated that Musharraf was receiving treatment for a condition at an American hospital in Dubai.

Fawad Hussain, a prominent member of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf, expressed his condolences on Twitter and wrote, “Pervez Musharraf passed away; he was a brilliant man whose philosophy was to always put Pakistan first. May God grant him mercy.”

According to a tweet from his family on June 10, the former army chief is at a point when “healing is not feasible and organs are malfunctioning.” He is not breathing artificially. Has spent the past three weeks in the hospital because of a complication with his condition (Amyloidosis). Passing through a challenging stage where recovery is impossible and organs are failing. Ask God to make his life easier “stated the family.

He was identified as having the deadly condition Amyloidosis in the UAE in 2018. When an abnormal protein builds up in organs and obstructs normal function, a rare disorder known as amyloidosis results. In March 2016 General Musharraf left for medical care in Dubai and hasn’t returned since.

He was wanted in connection with the murder of a cleric at the Red Mosque and the shooting of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto. Musharraf, who oversaw Pakistan from 1999 to 2008, was convicted of high treason in 2019 and given the death penalty for suspending the Constitution. Later, according to PTI, his death sentence was vacated.

The Lahore High Court ruled in 2020 that all actions taken by the Nawaz Sharif administration against Musharraf were “unconstitutional,” including the filing of a high treason complaint and the establishment of a special court as well as its proceedings, which resulted in the repeal of the death sentence imposed on him by the trial court.

He was given a death sentence in 2019 by a special court. Musharraf overthrew the previous prime minister, Nawaz Sharif, in a bloodless coup in 1999. After the 2008 elections, when he was forced to quit as president due to impeachment, Musharraf fled to Dubai for self-imposed exile.
