Vivid News 24: Amitabh Bachchan, a seasoned actor, spoke to the audience on Thursday at the 28th Kolkata International Film Festival. He discussed communalism and censorship in the British era. Amitabh Bachchan also said that he believes his on-stage co-workers would concur that concerns about civil liberties and freedom of expression are being addressed.
Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal, also attended the gala occasion, and Shahrukh Khan gave a speech. Amit Malviya of the BJP was encouraged by Amitabh Bachchan’s remarks to attack the TMC Chief on behalf of the Trinamool Congress.
The BJP leader tweeted and claimed that Amitabh Bachchan’s comments were especially prescient because Mamata Banerjee was present when he made them in Kolkata. He also brought up the post-election violence and said that the veteran actor’s comment was like putting a mirror up on the dictator.

As a response to Amit Malviya’s Tweet, TMC’s Nusrat Jahan tweeted that the prohibition of films, the detention of journalists, and the punishment of common people for speaking the truth are all signs of tyranny.
Jahan went on to say that restricting free speech and expression simply means that; he also said that all of these incidents occurred while the BJP was in power and that it was ludicrous for Malviya to criticize others for being oppressive.
Amitabh Bachchan’s remarks were made in the context of the ongoing Pathaan boycott controversy, which gave them further meaning. Shah Rukh Khan, a popular actor, also watched Bachchan’s words on civil liberties and freedom of expression because he was present on stage at the time.
Shah Rukh Khan, a well-known actor, also made a speech and discussed Indian cinema, its goals, and the damaging effects of social media on movies. SRK concluded by saying that despite everything, people like him and other “positive people,” as the actor referred to them, are still alive.
As many have predicted, Shah Rukh Khan’s remarks were a subliminal response to those who are asking for a boycott of his next movie Pathaan.
